The 19th International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC kicked off on the 22nd of July 2012 and I was one of the lucky few bloggers who was lucky enough to attend this wonderful conference (where different issues are addressed from access to treatment to combatting stigma). I came to put faces behind names in the blog and it is wonderful getting to meet strong, powerful, resilient and brave women from across the globe. I remember the early days after my diagnosis after I stumbled to The Well Project for support...it took me 10 months to finally blog, yet blogging has opened my eyes to a different world where women empower themselves and support one another.
When I joined the blog the thought of meeting these women never crossed my mind not once, but this week I got to spend a bit of time with them and for that I'm eternally grateful. I would also like to extend my word of thanks to the women behind The Well Project and A Girl Like Me, especially the founder for coming up with a such a great resource website, and Krista for the opportunity to be here. In my culture, we have a phrase:"anginayo amaningi" which means i don't have much to say..but a lot to be thankful for!!! ngiyabonga(thank you)
