2010 Desert AIDS Walk ~ It's a wrap

It is so nice to see the same faces year after year. It is so nice because this means treatment works! People are living with HIV/AIDS. They are living full lives! I was so happy when people stopped me and asked me what my t-shirt was about. I just wish I had business cards to hand out! I will be making and bringing them to the next event, FOR SURE! If anyone in the state of California (USA) is planning to participate in an AIDS walk and wants a walking partner, let me know (I'll bring the shirts) It was a great day. I love seeing all the families walking together. My son and his school group, Gay Straight Alliance, walked also.

Last night my son and I had a discussion about how 1 in 4 sexually active gay men are positive. I asked, "So what are you going to do to prevent this?" It was kind of a heavy subject for a Friday night drive. Since he is gay and only 15 years old, I feel this should be topic of discussion every chance I can get. If I can get this, ANYONE CAN! This is an equal opportunity disease, young, old, man, woman, rich, poor, black, white, asian, latino, it doesn't care who you are. Together we can make a difference. It starts by talking to your children and hopfully if you talk about it enough they will listen.
