Over the past couple years, The Well Project (TWP) has observed a transformation--one that is too big to ignore. Our web portal and online resources, originally designed and built in 2002 for a US-based audience, have increasingly become a resource for women living with HIV all over the world. In 2011, over 70% of our 1.5+ million visitors were from outside of the US, a trend which continues to grow. This is no surprise, as according to the latest UNAIDS statistics, women and girls comprise over half of all people living with HIV.
Today, in conjunction with and in honor of International Women's Day (March 8) and National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (March 10), we are pleased to present this brief video animation that helps tell the history of TWP and our journey towards becoming a major global portal poised to change the way we learn about HIV disease, share information and support, and create a platform for a truly global community which we are referring to as "TWP 3.0".
In brief, we hope to bring together the information and educational resources on www.thewellproject.org, merge them with the online support community of A Girl Like Me, and create a platform for information-exchange--all while making these resources available in more languages and more formats to women and girls in underserved communities around the globe. Please join us in celebrating the power of women and share this video with your networks!
Stay tuned for more announcements about TWP 3.0 as the year progresses. In the meantime, we thank you for your ongoing support!
