Dear friends, Today we sent out an e-newsletter for Valentine's Day that was in part inspired by stories we read on A Girl Like Me, as well as comments we hear from women living with HIV around the world about the lack of information focusing on sexuality. Below is the introduction from the newsletter along with a link to our new article "Getting Your Sexy On!". We hope you enjoy reading it and hope your day is filled with much self-love and fun! To read about blogger Mandy Webb's art piece "Sexy Quilt" shown here (made out of over 700 out-of-date condoms), please click here. On this annual...

Tiffany posted a new blog When a hero has no answers on A Girl Like Me’s “Voices from our Allies” page: I just attended a screening of the Oscar nominated documentary, “ How to Survive A Plague.” ***Spoiler alert I went into the screening fully expecting to be pissed that it was not a complete representation of the AIDS movement in America.***= I was not disappointed! It wasn’t, the film depicted an important time in the epidemic from the perspective of one maybe two groups (ACT UP NYC and TAG). It left you seeing the epidemic from a gay white male perspective. But, I was also surprised! The...

In observance of World AIDS Day 2012, we asked A Girl Like Me bloggers, "What is the one thing about HIV that you’ve learned or experienced this year that has made a difference in your life and would like to share with others?” Here are some of their responses: Bee2art: For me personally, I have more hope. Hope that one of the drugs I'm taking (Truvada) has been found to help reduce transmission of the disease. Hope that from everything I've learned in the past six months from my Doctor and research that a cure may be found within fourteen years (my Docs opinion, and she's a research doctor)...

Sonya posted a new blog Remove Your Mask on A Girl Like Me’s “Voices from our Allies” page: ½ of my LIFE, I’ve lived behind a MASK…for a MAN. I hid my true self, true feelings & true sexual desires. I neglected my wants and gave into the desires of my flesh…For a Man! ½ of my LIFE, I’ve lived behind a MASK…not wanting to expose my deep aches & pains, my brokenness and hid behind broken smiles, ½ hugs, kind words, so I wouldn’t couldn’t feel any pain. ½ of my LIFE, I’ve lived behind this MASK…as a Mother, Wife, and Woman. Feeling like my dreams dried up like a raisin in the sun, imprisoned, and...

Sonya posted a new blog Our Heart... on A Girl Like Me’s “Voices from our Allies” page: Do we truly understand the power of learning to listen with our hearts? Well recently the community has been opening up to me pertaining to HIV/AIDS Awareness, and it’s truly amazing! I have been learning to live each moment in love, because life is not promised to us, it is a gift. We are to savor every moment with those we love, care for, and with our community. Everything around us is always speaking to us…The question is, are we willing to listen, learn and grow from everyone and everything around us...

As many of you know, when the The Well Project was founded in 2002, it was primarily a U.S.-focused resource. As time went by, however, it became clear that the need for accurate, reliable information about women and HIV knows no boundaries and we are now pleased to serve women and their care networks around the globe. Last year, more than 70 percent of our 1.3 million website visitors and 50 percent of the 50,000 visitors to the A Girl Like Me blog were from outside the United States. In fact, The Well Project's website and online resources are accessed by women living in every country in the...

Hi everyone, we hope that you take a few minutes to complete this survey! It will really help us improve the resources we provide! Thank you!! Krista

Sonya posted a new blog What Could it Be? on A Girl Like Me’s “Voices from our Allies” page: I really wonder why people are so quick to attend a baby shower vs. attending an HIV Awareness/Testing Event. It blows me away to know that we are willing to bring a gift of diapers, play games and smile, as we try to guess the weight and size of the new baby. We never once mentioned the fact that they should have used a condom! Hmmm…STDs, HIV, and even unwanted pregnancies….Oh, like what just happened here…What is the real reason why so many people are scared to even say H—I--V? I think about this...

Sonya posted a new blog To My Sisters..."spoken word style” on A Girl Like Me’s “Voices from our Allies” page: Too many of my Sisters are winding up dead because they allow smooth-talking brothers to mess with their head! Why should another Sister, full of promise, have to die because a man lied about his sexual preference to shield his male pride? On an endless quest for love and affection, my Sisters are neglecting themselves when they don’t insist on using protection. What many consider just a “casual date” often turns deadly due to poor judgment and careless mistakes. They say “you shouldn...
