Waru Gichane is an Assistant Professor in the Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) research program in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California San Francisco. Her research is dedicated to identifying and addressing the structural and social factors that produce disparities in sexual and reproductive health globally. She uses qualitative and mixed methods approaches to explore adolescent sexual and reproduction health, quality of sexual and reproductive health services, and HIV prevention and treatment interventions. Waru's research has been published in leading public health journals including the JAMA Network Open, Journal of the International AIDS Society, and AIDS and Behavior. She holds a BS in Human Development from Cornell University and an MSPH and PhD in Health Behavior from Gillings School of Global Public Health from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
