Bridgette Picou is a passionate advocate for people living with HIV. At the intersections of being a Black woman, a woman aging with HIV, and a healthcare provider, her advocacy goal is to amplify the voices of women and people living with HIV in such a way that they feel seen and heard. Her work with The Well Project as the Stakeholder Liaison centers the experiences of women in ways they may be otherwise missed. In addition to being a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Bridgette is certified as an AIDS Care Nurse (ACLPN) and received the 2022 Patrick Kenny Certified Nurse of the year award from the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC), where she currently serves as a director at large. She is also the board secretary for HARP-PS (Healthy Aging Research Project—Palm Springs). It is important to her to not only continue to build relationships between providers and patients but also to partner with other members of the HIV medical community for education, collaborative relationships, and advances centering people living with HIV. Bridgette believes that in advocating for others, her own journey with HIV is affirmed.
