As October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I would like to share with you my daughter's story. This was a very difficult time for our family, and I know it is not an easy story to share, but my daughter really loves to write; she's found healing in it as many of us do.

From day one the odds have never been in my favor a black girl from the rough side of town a black girl growing up before her time a black girl letting the odds win hot tempered doing what i want forget school they don't care about me.

Seven years ago today I met the man that would become both the best and worst memories, and love, I have known to date.
