Since our founding in 2002, The Well Project has become a recognized leader in the fight against HIV by revolutionizing the availability and accessibility of much-needed resources designed specifically for women living with HIV. The rapid evolution of technology and emerging ways information is accessed have dramatically increased our reach, exponentially expanding our impact both in the US and worldwide. Our programming and impact uniquely position The Well Project to ensure that women are not left behind as we embark on efforts to end the HIV epidemic.

About the Position

The Well Project is seeking a social media/communications contractor for up to 15 hours/week at $30/hour to manage The Well Project’s social media presence from July – December 2024 (potential for contract extension). The contractor will work directly with the Director of Online Resources and receive additional support from other team members including the Stakeholder Liaison and others.

The ideal applicant is organized, proactive, experienced in all aspects of social media, with strong communication skills. While there is potential growth for this position, we are seeking someone who has dedicated time for the work described at this time only. While work will have firm deadlines, the hours the work is performed can be flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Post daily (Monday-Friday) on The Well Project social media platforms (FB, IG, X, Threads) and occasionally, when appropriate on YouTube, LinkedIn
  • Choose compelling excerpts/descriptions, links, tags, etc. We will provide social media guidelines and past examples for guidance/specifics
  • When unavailable to post, schedule posts in advance
  • Work with The Well Project point of contact(s) to strategize and expand social media presence; touch point 2-3 times a week (or more if requested)
  • Maintain social media schedule tracking spreadsheet (Google Doc)
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages in a professional and timely manner
  • Review social media platforms several times a week to review/like/comment on internal and external (primarily partner) content
  • Regularly review social media platforms for spam in comments

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience in social media (including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Threads; additional platforms such as Tik Tok a plus) and communications for non-profit organization and/or for-profit company
  • Knowledge of HIV and women and women's health more broadly
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva
  • Ability to think creatively and generate innovative ideas for social media campaigns
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proactive with a proven ability to work in remote environments
