Take charge of your DEATH.
Yes, you read right….
In March 2018 India’s Supreme Court has allowed people to draw up “living will”, meaning they can seek what is known as passive #euthanasia
The right to die with dignity is a fundamental right.
(Only if one is suffering from a terminal illness or is in a vegetative state).
---------------------------------------------
For me, as a #personlivingwithhiv it makes all the more sense to have it drafted and to be ready/prepared for my peaceful passing minus the suffering.
----------------------------------------------
A Living Will set out a patient’s wish regarding how they want to be treated if they are seriously ill and helpless.
What does PASSIVE EUTHANASIA entail?
*switching off life-support machines
*disconnecting a feeding tube
*not carrying out a life-extending operation
*not administering life-extending drugs
BUT, this is not an easy task - to register and get it passed, you need a lawyer, 3 doctors you trust, and rounds of court+months of waiting. Hence making the Living Will while you are in a good frame of mind and health is important.
Please note: There are also protocols that are to be followed so that the court could guarantee that living wills were not drafted by patients under coercion.
