My Never-Ending Battle With the Scale: My Journey to Better Health

At the age of 11 I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and while it didn't make sense, it was explained that this is why I was "bigger" than all the other kids in my class. I can remember in my barely teen years going with my mom to the Curve classes... and from then on trying endless programs to help me lose weight.

As I got older, no matter how many programs I tried and being mindful of what I ate, sometimes to the point of starvation, nothing seemed to work. For years I inquired about weight loss surgery, and it was either never covered by my insurance or the out of pocket payment was way more than I could afford. Continue reading...
