Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has made a long-term commitment to end AIDS in New York State. In June 2014, he announced a three-point plan to bring new HIV infections from over 3,000 a year to below 750 per year by 2020. In October 2014, he convened a Task Force of over 60 experts and community leaders to advance recommendations on how to make the plan a reality.
New York has a chance to be a global leader in the fight against AIDS, but to achieve an AIDS-free New York, we must act now. The Governor's Task Force has completed a Blueprint that, if fully enacted, will reduce new HIV infections to zero by 2020 and improve treatment outcomes for HIV-positive New Yorkers.
