Please consider signing the attached International AIDS Society (IAS) call for a remedy to a major impediment to HIV Cure research.
There is a desperate need for industry to supply their approved drugs to Cure researchers for pre-clinical animal studies BEFORE any new strategies are tested in humans so that we have a good idea about potential side effects. Combination anti-retroviral treatments are necessary to effectively study any new strategies.
The IAS is trying to facilitate the development of a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) among HIV drug companies in order to create a simple process by which industry can donate approved drugs to these pre-clinical studies. To date, our industry partners have been unable to agree on common language for the MTA. This is slowing down the necessary animal research.
