My name is Nancy Duncan. I'm 63 years young and I was born and raised and still live on Long Island, NY.
My son Jason, now 41 has been my inspiration to survive living with HIV and an AIDS diagnosis going on 36 years now. He was only 10 when I found out. It has been quite a bittersweet journey of making and losing many beautiful friends, loving, learning and much gratitude. As a pre-HAART AIDS survivor I feel blessed to still be here.
Why Nancy wants to be a part of A Girl Like Me: I have wanted to be a part of AGLM for some time, and finally got around to writing something about myself. I want to be a part of this sisterhood to give and get support. Maybe I can inspire other women who read about my experiences and what I've overcome, to know there can be great quality of life after HIV and we are all in this together.
